Professional Registration
To apply for medical jobs in the UK you must register with the
General Medical Council (GMC), and obtain a license to practice.
The GMC regulates all Doctors working in the UK.
GMC registrations must be renewed every year.
Eligibility for full GMC registration is dependant on your
nationality, the country in which you obtained your qualifications
and your experience. There are several levels of registration you
could apply for Provisional, Specialist, GP and Temporary Full
registration. Geneva Doctors can help people who have Full,
Provisional, and Specialist registration find Locum work. Please
visit the GMC
website for information on what registration level you are
eligible for.
The registration process involves sending in all the required
documents by registered post to the relevant GMC address. All
documents must be in English or include a certified translation.
After your documents are received and processed by the GMC, you
will be asked to do an identity check. In order to complete this
identity check you will need to travel to the United Kingdom (to
GMC offices in London or Manchester). While in the UK for the
identity check, many of our doctors find this is a great
opportunity to arrange an interview with Geneva Doctors.
Please be aware GMC initial registration can be a lengthy
process. To find out more refer to the GMC website or email us on
